My Reading Goals for (the rest of) 2018

There are a few things I want to achieve this year in regards to my reading more recently however perhaps the lack of…. These are goals that I would perhaps feel incredibly accomplished having completed them ๐Ÿ˜€

Thing that I could achieve any time but yet….. I decided to challenge myself and causing large amount of stress in my life *sobs*

Here are 5 thing I would like to achieve through out the rest of this year!

1) A Series That I Want to Finish

KODAK Digital Still Camera

I just…… have waited waaaaaaay too long to continue with this one. I really want to read it. Almost every time I finish reading a book, I tell myself that I’m going to pick up The Rose Society and continue with the series… because anything involving magical powers…. I’m there…. I would get there sooooo fast…. nobody would even notice that I wasn’t there…. because no one would see me coming …. I can be sneakyย

My goal is to finish the series and to read more Marie Lu, because in all honestly her writing style makes me feel comfortable.ย Even if the stories do not *distant wailing for Enzo*

2) A Long Ago Published Book That I Want to Read

KODAK Digital Still Camera

I have been meaning to start reading some Stiefvater… because they all sound good….. so why haven’t I?? TELL ME UNIVERSE? WHY?!?!?ย I NEED ANSWERS WORLD!!!!!

Plus, more recently Cait over at @PaperFuryย had talked about how she met her favourite books…. and this one was there…. Plus she adores Stiefvater….. I feel unDERACCOMPLISHED!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!

P.s, You guys should go check out PaperFury’s blog… it’s hella good…. I follow it religiously …. because procrastination….

3) A New Release That I Want to Read

KODAK Digital Still Camera

This book was released this month (March 2018) …. and I got really excited about it and just bought it on impulse….. Now I really want to read it… I will read it before the year ends….

My only problem with new releases, especially first books in a series, is that when I finish the book I just want more…. and then I feel sad… and lonely…. then I won’t read for a while… ’till I pick up another book and then it happens again and again and again….. it’s the most perfect of circles ever drawn in the universe.

4) Start Reading a New Author

KODAK Digital Still Camera

I have said this before on my blog…. and I will say it again….. I REEEAAALLY want to pick up a book by V. E Schwab. Every time I see something about one of her books it’s always positive (unless it involves cliffhangers…. let’s be real…. we’ve aaaaall been there)ย and I want some of these positive feelings….. yes please โค

Plus, I follow her on Twitter…. and I find her to be a kindred spirit.

5) Read a Book That I have Been Putting Off

KODAK Digital Still Camera

Ever. Since. It. Was. Released.

I have been watching this series… like a serial stalker…..

Every time someone reviewed it I would skip to the end to see the star rating (to avoid spoilers of course… I’m not just being rude I SWEAR)

From my lengthy investigation I have determined that this series should be a good one…. hopefully.

The third and final instalment of this series Obsidioย was released this month.

And I have all three in the series now….

I plan to read all of them in one after the other ’till I reach the end.

This is a good method….. it just means that I won’t have any cliffhangers to destroy my soul and the very fabric of my being……..ย Looking at you Empire of Storms T.T

These are my goals for the rest of 2018. What are yours? Let me know!

‘Till next time.

Good Night, or Morning ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

  1. I’d feel sad for the book if I left it alone…. unfinished….
Yeah I know what you mean… like the idea of an apocalypse doesn’t scare me too much because I would raid the heck outta every bookstore I find :’D but then Zombies…. would kill me because I refuse to leave an books behind XD

Ooooo, I’ve read a few of King’s books before and while I kinda felt confused half the time and scared the next… I’d say they were good.

Heck yeah, I finished a draft of my first chapter and rewarded myself by baking apple pie…. XD Baked goods are the best rewards… and motivators ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Awesome goals! Definitely agree with Marie Lu – you simply cannot have “too much” of her. I need all her books. I read the Legend-trilogy and Warcross. The Young Elites-trilogy is on my wishlist!

The ADSOM-books are on my TBR; have yet to start reading them but I reallyreally want to? Simply have too many books to read, oops.

THE ILLUMINAE FILES. โค I'm in a freaking reading slump because of Obsidio. I hate it and love it at the same time. :')

    1. YAAASS! Marie Lu has surpassed all expectations with her writing and plot and *gasp* I’m currently reading The Rose Society (no.2 in The Young Elites series) and It. Is. So. GOOD. Don’t even want to leave my room ๐Ÿ˜€ and I won’t.

ADSOM have been on my TBR for a while and I have barely touched them (other than to take pretty pictures of; the guilt is overwhelming T.T ) I get waaaaaaaaay to distracted by other books because sometimes I’m a mood reader and read what I feel like which means that the books I need to read get left on the shelf….. cue the lonely violin music (T . T)

OOOOOOO, I have all three in the series, I just need to get to them…. maybe when I have finally finished The Young Elites which has waited it’s fair share…. 12 YEARS OF IT……. IN AZKABAN!!!!
But after that…… I’m probably gonna pick them up…. because I feel that I must…. after the reading slump thing but if they are good to the point that they bring on another slump :O ….. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!?!?! AHHHHHHH

I just wanna read all the things….

This is a really long reply XD So sorry ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Hahaha! The ones where you don’t want to leave your room / house / couch / whatever are THE BEST. Those are the books I live for. Those are the ones I want to fill my bookcases with!

I totally feel you on that. I loooove how those books look but I keep picking up different ones. The eARC’s on my TBR aren’t helping things either. It’s been three weeks or something since I read a book of my own TBR that wasn’t a very recent release. Bad me, bad bad me.

THAT’S SO LONG! But you’re reading them now which is worthy of a MAJOR APPLAUSE! GO YOU!
But, seriously, you need to read them. And then go into the biggest slump ever with me. I’m not even calling it a reading slump anymore. It’s a LIFE SLUMP. I haven’t been feeling like doing ANYTHING lately all because of that stupidlovely book. I want to kill it and love it at the same time. It’s tearing me up inside!

Ha! You got back a long one! ๐Ÿ˜›

        1. Heck Yeah, I mean other books are great but THOSE books are the RULERS OF LIFE AS WE KNOW IT! The books that steal souls and collect tears are tyrants…. yet they deserve every ounce of love they receive ๐Ÿ˜€ even though iT HuRtS!

Ooooooo, Reading books before they get released is pretty rewarding in its self really…. because everyone else has to WAIT! AND YOU GET TO KNOW ALL THE THINGS!!!! AHHHHH! hahaha yeah….. more recently I’ve been trying to read the books that have waited oh so patiently and avoid the shiny ones but it’s jusT sO hArD!!!!!! We are so cruel to our TBR books ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

HEck Yeaaaaaah! TEAM LIFE SLUMP! I want to join in on this pain parade ๐Ÿ˜€

          Boom! Baby paragraphs! Hahaha :p

          1. EXACTLY! Oooh, if you want one to make you cry like a baby, you should read 180 Seconds by Jessica Park if you haven’t yet. They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera also had me crying – even though I was totally getting ready and prepared for the ending but I was so NOT.

That’s SO TRUE. I was completely hyped and excited and freaking out when I got an eARC for The Cruel Prince. Loving a book even before an entire hype starts is A-MA-ZING and made that book even more special to me, haha.
Right?! It’s like the new ones always have to be read first and the old ones keep growing older and older.. Good thing they don’t grow hair because of it or my bookcases would look horrifying.. :’)

            READ THEM. READ THEM.

            1. Hahaha, if books grew hair as they age, we could sell the hair to companies who make wigs? And then use any money earned to BUT MORE BOOKS! And then they won’t get read, age, grow hair… boom more wigs more money…. that would be one heck of a system XD

I WILL I PROMISE! SLOWLY BUT SURELY! ( I’m not even half way through The Rose Society and there is still another book afterwards ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Lately my reading speed has decreased and now I literally read like a snail moves ๐Ÿ˜€ BUT ILLUMINAE IS NEXT ON MY LIST, YOU HAVE MY WORD!

              Liked by 1 person

            2. Now that’s definitely an option. But.. all the work to get the hair off?! It would cut in our reading time?! We would simply stop reading eventually because we’d be busy with all that hair all the time. YEAH NO. Abort plan, abort plan!

Hahaha, just enjoy your reading! That’s most important after all. ๐Ÿ˜€
Once you get into Illuminae, you’ll speed through it I’m sure! The format took some getting used to; I found it pretty confusing at first but once I got what was going on.. SPEED OF LIGHT BABY.

              Liked by 1 person

            3. Yeah, we would spend a lot of time on trying to run a “hair” business. Plus the fact that eventually someone will get suspicious and ask; “Where the heck are you getting all that hair?!?!” we would be like “ummmmmm…..” and then spontaneously burst into tears because we know it’s from neglecting those poor old books that only want some love ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I find it quite hard to not love reading, although reading a 40 page article about law is daunting and often I just pretend I have read it and instead read my books… ’cause they are better obviously XD
I have read a book in a similar format before (it was about like a zombie apocalypse or something, told in the same format) so I think maybe I’ll adjust super quick… I hope…. I want to read super fast…. I miss starting a book, and then the next day (or the same day!) realise “oh, I finished the book.” and then cry ’cause you wanted more ๐Ÿ˜€

              Liked by 1 person

            4. And then we’d get into a depression and all would be lost! Like, we can’t let that happen.. We have to abort this plan ASAP. Like. Yesterday!

Hahaha. Now that I can definitely relate to! Sometimes I do have a book that makes me go “I don’t like reading anymooooore” but that’s either because it makes me cry like a baby or because it simply isn’t my thing, haha.
Zombie apocalypses are not my jam, at all. I try to stay clear of things with zombies because they freak me out? Oops.
I MISS THAT TOO. Like, I can sometimes do it when I’m reading on my Kindle but it’s like a mission impossible when it comes to physical books? I don’t get it..

              Liked by 1 person

            5. We should have jumped off this ship before it ever even sailed….. the seas are dangerous ๐Ÿ˜€

Yeah, I get what you mean. I try not to stop reading a book if I think “this isn’t what I thought it was going to be.” because I would feel sad??? Like I was excited about this book, I won’t allow myself to be disappointed by it!

I haven’t read a Zombie Apocalypse book in a while…. the last one I read was like 5 or 6 years ago ….because was watching a lot of The Walking Dead and was like *gasp* “What about ZOMBIE BOOKS?!?!?!” and thought it was a great idea to run to the nearest bookshop and find a zombie book… which I did… I don’t think I’ve finished it actually, I had like 50 pages left but then I just. Stopped. Reading. It.
Because there were shinier books waiting for me XD

Yaaaaaas, it’s such a nice feeling, and I miss it so bad….. I get what you mean, kindle books are quite sneaky when you think about it… if you’re not paying attention to page number/chapters then you just kinda fly through it and finish, where as a physical book you kind of keep checking how much further there is to go ๐Ÿ˜€
But when it’s a physical book that I’ve flown through…. I get hecka proud of myself, I’m like go me, I did a good. GIVE ME COOKIES AND CAKE! LET’S CELEBRATE!!!! hahaha

              Liked by 2 people

            6. Damn right they are!

Right?! It’s so hard to give up on books, even if we’re struggling to like them. It’s still a BOOK. We can’t betray them – even if we’re so, so tempted to!

Hahaha. I’ve never had a thing with zombies, AT ALL. They’re just.. gross and I can’t cope? Like, sorry. I’m a pussy. Can’t help it. [It’s like a verrrryyyy big deal I’m reading King’s books this month too :’)]
Always the shiny books, haha! They keep distracting me as well! I have so many books I’ve owned for months and years and ages but I keep picking up the new ones.. Horrible!

Right?! Because with the physical ones you actually SEE how much is left whereas on your Kindle, you simply keep reading. I DID IT THOUGH. Sunday was the best reading day in MONTHS – I finished two books. A physical one and an eARC and I’m SO DARN PROUD OF MYSELF.
I seriously rewarded myself by baking cookies and cupcakes yesterday – whooooooop!

  3. I adore Maggie Stiefvater’s writing, but I haven’t read The Scorpio Races yet, so I’d really like to get to it soon! I just finished Children of Blood and Bone today and it was wonderful, but I do see your point. It’s going to be a long wait for the next book!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I really need to read all of Stiefvater’s books…. just eat them really. I am hoping to get to Children of Blood and Bone soon, mainly because it’s on my shelf and it’s way to compelling to ignore :’D Waiting for the next books kills me, like with An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.. The wait between each books is basically violently long…. and soo I am waiting till their next books come out, and then I can read them all at once ๐Ÿ˜€ It keeps my soul intact at least XD

  4. Great goals! Right now I barely have time to read so my goal for the year is to finish at least one fiction book ๐Ÿ˜… I say fiction because lately I read non-fiction but I miss all that creative writing!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I personally don’t think I’ve ever read any non-fiction… But fiction on the other hand….. I’ve read quite the bunch ๐Ÿ˜€ and it’s wonderful… Do you recommend any particular non-fiction books that I could try?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I agree that fiction is wonderful!! As for recommendations, it depends on your interests as it is hard to read a non-fiction book if you donโ€™t really like the topic ๐Ÿ˜… All my non-fiction books right now are self improvement books and I donโ€™t know which ones Iโ€™d recommend ๐Ÿค”

        1. Basically I’ll read anything…. cause I have no self control, although I do tend to go for more YA Fantasy in fiction…. because it’s friggin’ epic… Don’t worry about it ๐Ÿ˜€ …..I might go for a scroll through Amazon or Goodreads to see if I find any non-fiction that I want to read…. although this is dangerous….. guaranteed gonna find more than one book then cry because I can’t have them all XD
